What are the qualities of an expert teacher? Important attributes are
defined and illustrated. The following six ideas are explored in
depth. An expert teacher:
- identifies key ideas and presents them in several ways, and
highlights connections among key ideas;
- makes careful plans, but remains flexible;
- listens to students and asks questions to help them make sense of
their own understanding of key ideas;
- provides "low threshold-high ceiling" problems ;
- helps students think for themselves;
- and never stops learning.
