OSX machines
There are a few dozen public G5 machines available in the
Mathematics department. The picture shows two of the machines
located in the 5'th floor.
Answers to some recent FAQ:
Boot problem: the Mac OS X keys can help
especially during startup.
Slow Mail application: users with large mail boxes experience a slow down
of the mail application. Solution: trim the mailbox. Suggesition: less than
1000 messages. Also delete the trash containing spam frequently.
Printing from local macs: From the local macs, printing with lpr does not
work yet. Solution: ssh to abel and print from there.
Magma:Magma is not availble
on the macintoshs. You can still use it: open the Terminal and type "ssh neron".
Once you are loged into Neron, you can start Magma from the commandline with "magma".
