This year, piday happens on a Saturday and no pi-eating contest takes place. Luke Anderson, gave a Mathtable talk: Pi is a number surrounded by a timeless intrigue --- we've been chipping away at its mystery for about 4000 years now. We will follow the ratio's history through selected stories of its approximation and interpretation, both successful and misguided. We will encounter Pi in culture, religion, and American history, to name a few, and touch upon the quirky modern fixations that swirl around it.

March 14th is now officially Pi Day.
