This year, piday happens on a Sunday and no pi-eating contest takes place. Luke Anderson, gave again his Mathtable talk: "A Slice of Pi": Pi is a number surrounded by a timeless intrigue -- we've been chipping away at its mystery for about 4000 years now. We will follow the ratio's history through selected stories of its approximation and interpretation, both successful and misguided. We will encounter pi in culture, religion, and American history, to name a few, and touch upon the quirky modern fixations that swirl around it.
